Hi, I've got a 1990 w124 230te 151,000 on the clock , service history 4 inch thick with replacement parts, the question i have has anyonelse had one of their anti roll bar rear brackets which is welded to the chassis actually rust through the chassis leaving a gaping hole underneath, causing the clonking noise , which I thought was a rear spring fractured and which I'd of been happier with and with solving.

I noticed that mine look a bit rusty, but they are still OK.

I better put some stuff on them to slow the rust down.

My TE is a 87 with 177,000 now.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman! This has happened to my 1993 320 TE with 187,000 miles. I am hoping to have it fixed next week with a new bracket being welded to the floor. the new bracket is only a fiver; lord knows how much the welding will be.
