Mr Siver_Star I have done as you requested..

For some reason I couldn't summon up the enthusiasm to do a 100% thorough job....
What started me off on the negative frame of mind was that the car was up on a jack and axle stands with wheels removed and I discovered I had every spanner under the sun EXCEPT the ****** 18mm ring spanner needed to remove the rear carriers..
So reluctantly I decided to carry on and do what I could with them in situ.
I still used the electric drill and wire brushes and the brake cleaner..
BUT in my head I know there are bits that aren't painted to my satisfaction..
The parts that show, that I could get to I did properly..

I removed the rear Pads and discovered they are 6 months maximum from needing to be replaced..
That did it!!
When I painted the calliper I also painted the back of the pads on 1 wheel... Then thought better of it and didn't paint the pad on the other wheel.
Its a good job you can only view 1 side of the car at once!!
Not really bothered re pads because they will be changed in a month or two..
I will make sure I have a 18mm ring spanner and then do the carriers properly..
Before you ask.. Yes I have an 18mm socket but there isn't room to use it.. There are electrical connectors which limit the height of the tool I can use.
Anyway photos below..
Again, better than it was !

5 mins is too short for some posts !!!

I will post photos separately..
I do think the 5 minute deadline is a bit mean to allow editing..

Nice work Simon :) These little touches do make such a difference (and says a lot of positives about the owner!).

Regarding the edit time, use the preview post option to check all ok before hitting Submit Reply!! ;)

Thats nice :D:D, I have been doing this to my V70R since 1990, my 129, the 230 and now the 216

So frustrating not to have that spanner...
I honestly thought I have every tool under the sun for routine maintenance..
I really couldn't hack reassembling the car just to go and buy a spanner and then start all over again...
As I say it will be done properly in a month or two...
Strangely the rears are more worn than the front...
Car has now done 41600 miles.

The fronts will have been replaced and the rears are probably the original, many get these mileages from them. My rear disc on the SL were at 55k when I sold it.

You could be like me having one in bits blocking the use of the other 2 cars.

I try to make sure I have access to another car before starting to disable the other, I remember the days when I only had one car and had to get my old bike out to go for bits I had not foreseen, we lived at the top of a very steep hill!
