One day last week I noticed the demister on my car only works up to about 3/4 of the way up the rear screen.
Yesterday whilst going for high gloss on the rear glass I noticed the filament had breaks in it in no less than 7 areas !!!
I've never really looked closely at my demister elements in my previous cars before..
If you have a 211 then can you look at your rear screen and count the breaks please?

Best way to see them is from inside looking out against the sky...

Photo shows what I mean, but there are several other areas with a single break..
Is it "normal" ?

Can't answer your direct question. However, I wonder if the non demisting parts are your radio aerial ?

That's a very good point..
I hadn't thought of that....
Im not over bothered about it but just wondered how on earth the rear demister wires could get "damaged" in multiple areas in a saloon car...
Radio reception is fine.. :D

Thanks for your input.

looks like theyre supposed to be there, to me. if they were breaks in the element, its unlikely that the lines would have come off the screen over such small distances and with such perfect ends to the breaks. id say its something to do with an aerial of some kind, either radio, phone or GPS. or even a combination!

Thanks Pete,
As I said the radio reception seems fine.
Its possible that the heated screen doesn't demist the whole area..
Its not a major issue..

Switch on the screen elements and stab each side with the probes of a multimeter, if it shows a potential difference it's part of the element, as I suspect.
You could then try the same stab on current and see if you cause a current flow through your meter, assuming it can measure DC amps of course.
