Can anyone tell me if the R107 2+2 rear "seats" can be fitted to a model not factory fitted with them. I have a project car but ideally wanted a 2+2 but my divorce would not allow it. So please can anyone help????

I think Myros is correct. The 107 roaster has a rear squab, which is minimal, but no backrest IIRC. The illustration also shows lap/diagonal belts, whereas I think they only have lap straps on the convertible.

Others who have cars with such fittings might confirm?

Thank you, and sorry about this,,the EPC is wrong, and only the 450sl is correct on all models. I think that Myros can tell us more about his seats

they definatly can be fitted.

SLC seats will NOT fit though. the links TV sent are for SLC. SL has different seats and only lapbelts. AFAIK the bolt holes are there though on models that dont have the rear seats (atleast on later models - probably not on the very early ones)

you're probably best getting them from one of the 107 breakers on ebay but it will cost v high £££'s.

is it worth it? i have them in my SL and you will struggle to get any person in the rear. even a child struggles and then you have the lap belt issue. i have these seats and plan to fit aftermarket 3 point belts in the rear for the children for the few times i would use them, but space is sooooo tight back there

I HOPE YOUR USERNAME IS CORRECT ;)

Hi All, I'm just hijacking/resurecting this thread rather than start a new one. I am going to have some rear seats made for my SL by a local company. They will not be like the original MB ones which are two separate seat pieces with a piece over the tunnel, but they will be one bench seat as made and sold by some companies on ebay.
The problem I have is that they need the board which would have originally been in place from the factory in order to fix the new seat to, and I am missing this. Does anyone know of any diagrams or photos of this board please so I can try and make one from plywood please? I have tried all the breakers but no luck so far.
Thanks

Thanks Myros - that item 60 (pair of) on the seat diagram seems to be what people are having trouble recreating for some reason. Most after market rear seats tend to be a bench seat and I've seen them for between £200 and £300. I had proper MB back seats in my old 380SL which I sold a few years ago - I should have taken a pattern!
I was lucky enough to find the rear o/s side panel I was missing in the correct cream colour from the SL Shop, but the seats or even the board remain illusive.
I think I will try and make a pair of rear MB style seats using ply, foam and cream leatherette. I expect it will look terrible but if it looks half decent I'll have them remade by a local automotive upholsterers.

Thanks

That's a great website! I may well do that at some point, but I have a set of rear belts which I removed from the old wreck of an SL I have. It has been a valuable source of parts, but I sold the complete interior (minus the rear belts) on ebay because it was black.
So far I have cut the ply and cut some foam I removed from an old head board. I can see now though that the foam has been cut wrongly and needs to be tapered down to the ply, leaving a straight line against the tunnel. I have ordered the correct colour leatherette which will be here by the weekend.
Here's some progress pics if anyone's interested:

Thanks - that's not bad for just over £200! That is about what the local firm have said it would cost, but without the board they can't start. I'll see if they have a photo of one they've done. To be honest I'm not expecting mine to look much good, but it won't cost much and will be at least functional until I can get a better one made.
