I want to replace the rear view mirror on the 2000 SL.
It is the manual dipping type so i dont thave to worry about power cables etc and I have the replacement part which seems to be a clip and clip type.
I am concerned about getting the old one off without damaging the trim on it or surrounding area. I undertsand there is a CD with video clips on it for perfomring certain procedures does anyone have this and if so can you tell me if it thas a clip of the removal procedure on it? If not can anyone advise me on the removal procedure

Thanks in advance

It simply pulls down, the to pins will be squeesed inwards and the mirror will drop, can take a great deal of force, same with puting it up, give it a good hard bang on the top and it will pop in.

Thank you, I remember now that when I was crawling up from underneath I bashed my head on mine and it fell off

easy job but stealers were wrong

With the knowledge that Malcoms head was enough to detatch the mirror I slid it off with a quick tug, no problem. Interesting arrangement the morror just clips into place using a captured spring loaded double ended bar.

So I unclipped the cover and revealed that the tilting mechanisim had simply come out of its locating lugs, I clipped it back in reassembled and all worked fine. The thing is that the stealers who said they had looked at it during a recent unrelated visit and it was beyond repair and it would be c £75 plus labour for a replacement. I suppose it is just another example of the replace instead of repair mentality which seems so common these days. :(

Again thanks for the advice it gave the detail I needed to do the job :D
