just bought a dual liner vlwb vito 2.2l desiel.
its rear wheel drive which i was suprised at .
is this not going backwards as most vans are front wheel drive now.
secondly does this van have air suspension in the back, haven't got her yet so i haven't looked yet?
thirdly she ran great on the test drive being sensiable roughly what would you expect a average mpg to get?
basic stuff i no but liking your forum and want to get stuck in:lol::lol:

Part from vans based on family runabouts I think most are rear wheel drive.
A great bonus when the rear is heavily laden as you get better grip.

mine has cages in the back for prisoners that were collected an night (drunks)
so she is heavy back end. however she sits perfectly level so thats ok i guess.
as for grip being a 4x4 man for too many years i was just working out the best option for winter.
ie weight in the back and all terrain s on the rear,
thats all

winter time, the last thing you want is to lose grip to your steering roadwheels! any power to the front axle increases the chances of this! if you need more grip, put a few bags of sand in the back! always worked a treat for me!!

She is heavy on the back with having the prisoner cages still in,
so weight isn't a issue if i leave thenm in for this winter.
just surprised at it being rear wheel drive i n this front wheel drive erea?
loads of Vito's on the road so looking forward to a relable and comfy new van

Front wheel drive only really came about because it is cheaper and quicker to manufacture vehicles that way. No fitting of propshafts or rear axle assemblies and the ability to use a common drive train amongst an entire range e.g. ubiquitous VW Golf floorplan.
