rear windscreen crack

Hi everyone, anyone had a cracked rear screen due to the heat. My 2013 221 was in for warranty repair at the second-hand dealers when the rear window was found cracked on Monday morning after a very hot weekend [30,c]. I would have thought it should have withstood a much higher temp than that. They say it was due to the heat. Thoughts anyone,?. Thanks in advance.

it was possibly damaged beforehand & the heat has finished it off. Many years back, my Senator had a small crack right in the black bit right at the bottom of the windscreen .... it was like it for a few years until the car was parked facing a hot sun all afternoon. That small crack then extended right to the top of the screen

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have had a further update on the rear screen and the garage have sent picture of a completly shattered rear screen. The garage think that something caused it to magnify in the intense heat adding that they had never seen anything like it before. As it happened on there property they have ordered a new one at there cost, £900 plus v.a.t i believe.
