In my last thread I was asking for the opinions of members on this forum about purchasing a Mercedes A140 Avantgarde. Well I bought the car and only just noticed a small problem with it and I've had the car for nearly a month now. I've found that the rear windscreen wash doesn't work (I never tested it with all the warm weather. doh!). When I use press the button to activate the rear windscreen wash, very little fluid comes out of the nozzle and instead it leaks inside the car from the plastic panel under the roof! This has got me worried because this leads me to believe that the dealer didnt even check the car thoroughly for faults:x. Im taking the car back to the dealer to get the problem rectified but could anyone here give me any more advice on what to do.

Ok, just been to the dealer to have it checked out. The guy looked at the nozzle and said the pipe connecting to it mus be loose so he had at it. Spent a good half hour on it, messing and fiddling, and windscreen wash still went all over the interior:mad: and it left a wet patch on the cloth roof. So it still isnt fixed and so my car has been booked in on saturday morn so that the guys can take the whole tailgate off and diagnose the problem from there. Me thinks its a hole in the pipe somewhere underneath the rear of the roof thats causing the problem but we'll see.

The roof trim has to come off at the back and the pipe comes off there. Use a small cable tie to secure it.

Hi kornoground

I don't know how relevant this is but quite some time ago my indie recommended using Mercedes screenwash because cheaper varieties can block the jets.

I had something similar happen to my Merc' but it was one of the bonnet jets that started to misbehave and the water started to bubble out from the jet-pipe union inside the bonnet. The indie cleared the blocked jet and recommended only using Mercedes screenwash. I've had no trouble since.
