Recommendation for Indy in London

Here’s a quote I got from an Indy. But looks like they’ve added a whole lot of other stuff like gearbox service.

Your car is due both Brake fluid (every 2 years) and a gearbox oil and filter change (every 4/5 years)

The engine oil is expensive, you could buy it off ebay for £38 not the £100 they quote

It was £275 from Avantgarde-Automotive - https://www.avantgarde-automotive.co.uk. Apparently they are going to start offering service plans. Any other items required would be an extra, so for this one I paid extra for a brake fluid change.

It is a 5g box in that car so every 4/5 years is the recommended interval

I need to do a B5 service on my 2010 C180. I usually do it at dealership but now I got quoted something ridiculous £750. The mileage is 60,800 and I was hoping if anyone can recommend me a independent specialist that is reasonable price and well trusted to the major service. Somewhere in London/Romford.

You cannot compare B Service to B service, the 5 after B indicates 5 hours of additional work, which is why your quotes are a bit different.

We have a lot of people who call for quotes, and say "but x or y quoted half the cost". You must check that they are doing the bits that should be done at the age/mileage and not just quoting a basic cost.

Our basic B service cost is £250 and includes brake fluid change, as its typically needed, including a full overview of the cars health.

It's either hours or "additional service items" depending on the year.

Had a laugh today, my 2 year old XC90 was in for its annual, they also said “ as a preventative we’d recommend brake fluid change, that will only be another £110 plus vat”
The car is on just over 10k mostly long distances , guess what my answer was?

hi guys thank you for all your input. so just to clarify do I need to service the gearbox? I had given my information to few different indies and only Klasse of Fulham came back suggesting I needed the gearbox serviced. On the official MB service website it doesn't mention needing gearbox oil changed.

Your car (assuming registered second half of 2010 and is a C180 Kompressor BlueEfficiency) needs:

Engine oil + Filter
Brake fluid change
Air filter change
Spark plug change

Without your registration, I cannot be 100% but that should be pretty accurate.
