Hello,

I have a G reg E200 estate, 190000+ miles. It's in great condition and I want it to go on for a long time. I want to take it to a garage that knows its way around these cars and can give it a good service.
Does anyone know of a good garage in the Dundee/Fife area?

I don't want to take it to the main dealer unless someone has had a good experience there.

Cheers

Steve.

Mercedes specialists are somewhat thin on the ground in the Fife /Dundee area---there aren't any.:( If your car is a W124 model they can be serviced by any honest competent local garage. You need to ask around for word of mouth recommendations- the cheapest ain't always the best but price seems to figure high in some people's minds! Try to ask people who have done a bit of "spannering" themselves at one time [but maybe don't have the time now ] so have the background to make a good judgement.

I'm with grober on this one. I once bought a 2 year old 190 and was ruthlessly ripped off by the local dealer for a "36,000 mile service" (£625, 1991).

I took the car to a local chap who had done work on other cars for me - he never had a problem and neither did I. MB Cars of that era struck me as having the simplicity of the Ford Cortina but built to RR/Bentley standards.
