Remote Central Locking on CLK200 2001 not working

For some reason my remote central locking has decided to play up. Yesterday I tried to get into the boot but it wouldn't open. So I pressed the black remote button to unlock, but nothing happened. I tried the switch inside the car but noting happened. I then thought let me lock the car and unlock it to see what happens, but the remote did not action the car. The lights flash once when I press the unlock button but only the light comes on internally and the doors do not unlock. I tried holding the buttons down for longing but all this serves is to make the electric windows wind down/up. I have tried to open the boot with the manual key, but it won't even go in properly. The remote/black key still starts the engine, so I guess it's not the batteries. The central locking button inside also does not work.

Please help, right about now I cannot afford to payout big bucks for something that seems so simple to fix if you know what's wrong.:-(

I would lift the rear seat out and check the pump by the battery.
