remote key

one of my keys was dropped and to cut a long story short the part on the circuit board thats common for breaking away is MISSING (how it got out of fob is a mystery) so i am trying to purchase one from a breaker so i can take that part off and solder it to my circuit board..anyway i also have a black credit card type that has a slide out key and press button remote? this has never worked from day1 so i put new batteries in and re-programmed it as described in merc driver handbook with no luck (but this has worked with normal flick out key in past when putting new batteries in)...so what is the purpose of this black key card thingy ???? and where am i going wrong..?

The coil falling off DAS keys is common when they are dropped. Get a Key from Ebay

I have purchased a spare key of ebay, my key does not open the doors neither starts the car or takes the steering lock of... the light comes on the key tho. i have c180 1999 3 button key fob.. How much will it cost me to repair.. thankyou

I can try and fix the key so that emits RF and IR, I cant do any coding as this is not possible on these keys.

I only charge the postage

I have tried the digital camera with the key... when i press the buttons i can see something flash... does this mean my key is fine... Do you recon my EIS is faulty.... and does EIS normally effect the opening of the doors.. the car startn use to be an intermittent problem but not its just totally dead... please help.

The RF is the long range locking and the IR close to the handle and IGN you can post it to me if you wish

no i have the ONE button key and it the square micro processor push thingy that is soldered by 4 feet? to circuit board..(common for breaking away) thats missing..i got a key from merc breaker (only breaks mercs, was like an aladins cave ,many diff models .its at north weald,essex) £30 and the key is not so nearly has worn as my 2 are.
also there is a guy on e-bay that re-furbishes merc keys £28.99 "buy now "who says he can repair these keys but not re-code or cut metal keys and he has v good feedback

does anyone have a flat black (credit card shape but bigger) that has a slide-out key and push-button for remote on it..i think in trade its called a "workshop key" i got mine along with the normal (one button )keys x 2 when i bought my 1996 e300 diesel .lt has never worked from day1 and i have changed batteries and re-programmed it as described in merc drivers handbook but still wont work...what is the purpose of this key??and how do i get it to work?... tony

hiya..thanks to andy went to maplins and they matched my old tactile switch to their stock and if you need this switch (one button remote key) its.. SWITCH 105 .. KR88 (89 pence each) tony

This is wierd, I decided to put jump leads on the battery and suprisingly the steering lock came off. I have taken the battery to the garage and they have advised me it is very low on power. lets hope charging works.....

Not really, always start with basics,,If the battery has a short circuit cell, that would knock a couple of volts off the 12.5 volts, OK for starting but not for other things.

With electrics first check that you have 12 volts in the system. You can buy a cheap meter for £5

UPDATE..new tactile switch soldered on circuit board and heypresto..works like new..now have 2 keys working again..
