remote locking key fob failure

I have a problem with my remote locking key fob. YES I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERIES :( :( 2 off varta CR2025 3V lithium cells. The red led only lights intermittently when I press the button. Looks like a loose internal connection. Any suggestions / advice like how to get to the innards without breaking the casing :? I think its a scorpion system on my 1995 e220 but the fob with the flick-knife key has a merc part number

I've unsuccessfully tried opening one of these flip keys.

In desperation I cut it open with a Dremel but it did make a real mess of it.

Are you sure its not just the battery contacts that need adjusting? If not, your only other option is stumping up the £50 odd pounds to get a new one programmed. :cry:
