Hi

Its been a while since I last posted.

I have noticed that a lot of 190s have corrosion in the door panels, just above the line of the plastic trims. So far mine (1993 K Plate 1.8E in Red) hasn't but wanted to check the paint work. I removed the back to screws on the door inner, but the trim felt like it was held by some sort of clip at the front. I was scared it would break so gave up trying to remove them. How d these come off?

What can I do to prevent the rust forming? The car is a minter apart from a small amount at the rear windo rain channels near the join with the boot. I managed to squeeze a small fibreglass resin repair in there.

Also any tips and keeping the rear boot fin from turning pink!!! I have tried using trade revivers but it goes back to the pink colour!!

Many thanks in advance

I feel sure that there is a screw at on end and the strip pushes forwards or backwards and comes off, they have keyhole (sideways) type holes in the doors

Thanks Malcolm

I will have a go - i presume that that the rust in the doors maybe eminates from these slots?.

Cheers

It certainly would better to get some Waxoil behind them.

What's the trim for?

Hi All

My neighbour has an early nineties 190 which is in quite good condition. No visible rust. Paintwork probably original: needs a good polishing though. However, a small piece of the trim is missing from one of the doors. Probably easy to replace?

I have often wondered what is the purpose of this trim? It covers the lower 8 to 10 inches of the doors and it looks as though it's designed to protect the bodywork.

Call me cynical, but isn't its true purpose to hide any rust that tends to develop in the door bottoms?

REGARDS

Phil
