Has anyone removed the ornate cover from the offside rear door on a W210. I have removed the screws but it seems to be held in by windoew outer trim. The cover is outlined on the attached sketch.
Thanks for that Parrot, howver that doesnt go far enough, do i actually need to take the inner trim panel off to fully remove the ornate cover on the outside door pillar. Was wondering if the horizontal trim along bottom of window opening can be prised off? Thanks again for your reply
Another diagram here, if it is the trim on the door uprght section I believe the fixings is under the rubber draught excluder, you do not need to take the lining panel off to access it
Television, it is the trim on the door uprght section, outlined in red on attached. I have removed the two screws that hold it in place. however the bottom of it seems to be held in place by section outlined in blue on attached. I dont want to force it past this section as im afraid I will damage paintowrk etc. I cant see how this section is held in place, perhaps it can be prised off with something that wont damage the paintowr on the door. I also believe that you are right in that the inner door trim may not have to be removed - at least I hope so.
In case you wondering what Im at- the original trim has been damaged and has started to corrodeand is becoming unsightly (to me).
Yes I know the piece that you mean, I have looked this up before for others who wanted to remove it, I do believe it is only held on with sticky tape after the screws have been removed
Thanks for your comments. There is no sticky tape on the W210 trims. I may be able to pull it up from behind the bottom trim, however when I did this before ( one of the front doors) I had great difficulty in relocating it and managed to scratch the paint on the door.
Am following up from the thread that you directed me to.
