Any idea how I remove the fan regulator from my W210? Its squealing and the fan speed alters randomly from trickle to gale even with the switch set on 1, so Im pretty confident that it's the regulator rather than a shaft bearing.
I understand its a pretty simple job but I can't figure out how it comes apart. Is it just a case of dropping a few screws from under the fan housing in the passenger footwell and dropping the unit out, or are we looking at removing the wiper arm, under bonnet grill etc?
If the bonnet has to come up, I'll probably book it in as I couldn't figure out how the plastic panels came apart and I don't want to break anything, but if its a 20 min strip down from underneath job I might as well do it myself.
thanks guys.

fan reg

Hi

drop under dash panel on passenger side, remove electric plug on bottom of heater housing and then about 4 screws and plasic cover drops off, you can now see reg, pull off two spade connection and undo two more screws and the reg is in you hand, screws are usually T20 (TORX)
rebuild and test.

good luck
