removing the stereo

Hi All

I have a an E280 (2002 model) i want to take out the stereo unit any one know how to do this with going to the MB dealership

You need the correct tools, of failing that park it somewhere... (insert chosen crime area)
Seriously though your dealer may whip it out for you (fnar fnar) free of charge if you ask him nicely

The MB dealership stated it would be chargabe, what tool do i need.

Do you have two little slots on the facia of the radio, one each end

yes one on either button at the bottom of the unit, one on the left and on the right,

You need part number w000 589 88 63 00 cost £1.09 they are radio removal keys.

Any MB dealer, though its possible that some ICE shops keep them, maybe more expensive from them.

just go into a dealer and ask to borrow the tools for 2 minutes, i did and they came out to my car and removed my radio for me free.

it's always worth asking, plus if your dealer isnt helpful, try another dealer.

you can get by with the little penknife blade

from the camper model Swiss army knife, but it is fiddly and you have to be very careful. Dealer tool is the best bet. Or check out e-bay for a Becker radio removal tool. Assuming it is a Becker of course........

you can buy the keys on ebay for a couple of quid.
