You should be able to reach over from the passenger side and press the button down, then lock the passenger door.
Just beware of reconnecting it. On some cars, this causes them to lock - normally when you've left your only set of keys in the ignition!

The self locking on re connetion is common to MB, Audi and Porche, any thing that uses the Hella pneumatic central locking system.

This all news to me. Does this only apply to later models eg 97 onwards?Does the more basic mechanism eg on my 96 E320 work differently?

Look at your drivers door lock jelly, do you have a mechanical lock for the emergency key assuming you have an infared ignition lock?

Your very quiet Mr jberks ??

My W210 had the emergency key mechanical lock in the front drivers & passenger door. I opened it once from the drivers side (just for the hell of it)
