Hi all. Just wondering whether anyone has used the Reviver product from Renovo on a blue roof? I've got some marks on mine that I think this product will sort out, but a bit worried as it appears to be basically a dye? Any experiences (as in was it successful, did the blue look right, was it easy to do etc) would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Hi Malcolm

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes its a 2001 CLK. I've given it a good go tonight, but there still seems to be some marks that won't come out. I've a feeling the previous owner rarley had the hood up, as it looks like its been left down and got dusty and not cleaned. There's also a few white marks on it which don't seem to want to come out. It doesn't look that bad to be honest, but I'm very much in TLC mode at the moment as I only bought it a few weeks back!

Cheers

I've used the Renovo range (Cleaner, colour and protection) on my Saab roof which is also blue and the result was very good.
It's no miracle cure but it will revive most roofs to a presentable standard. Not cheap though.

Hi Shaun,

You may well be correct in that it is dusty. Try a clean medium bristle shoe brush when the hood is dry to see if it will lift the dust out of the weave.

I bought the Autoglym Cabriolet Fabric Hood Cleaning Kit 2 months ago to to give my hood a good clean and I have to say after 2 applications my roof looks pretty good.It still looks slighty faded but it's very clean now and the protection application that comes with it is very good at stopping the water from soaking into the hood.In all but the heaviest of prologned showers does the rain soak in,all other times it just beads nicely on the hood and rolls off whenyou drive.

Thanks all for your comments. Just ordered the reviver, I'll give it a go and see how it looks afterwards and post the results. Of course if it goes horribly wrong, keep your eyes open for a post called "Anyone know where I can buy a reasonably priced CLK hood!?". Cheers. Shaun

I'm sure it won't come to that. :)

The thing with the reviver is to apply it in one go otherwise you get tidemarks. Also don't forget to protect your paintwork, even with a brush (I used a wallpaper paste brush) I got quite a few splashes on mine.

You should have cleaned off the wall paper paste first :D;)

Hi Shaun, used this (and the cleaner first) on my wife's CLK which is also blue, very easy to use -just follow instructions carefully - works beautifully, roof was nice and "blue" afterwards, however, some previous muppet had used a pressure washer :shock:on the roof and you can still see the marks::( but, apart from that, the roof is nice and clean and a nice blue colour - which hasn't "washed off" ;) I would certainly recommend it.
