further to a thread i posted a while back, i have replaced my instrument cluster with a second hand one, my original one had over 253,000 miles on it when it packed up, this one has just over 151,000 on it, obviously i cant just 'lose' over 100,000 miles off the van, so do i need to get the mileage change legally verified? i wouldn't have thought i could just change the instruments over without a second thought.

Just keep the old cluster as long as you have the car, or anyone with STAR could re set it for you, it take about 15 mins to do it, as it is zeroed, and the the mileage put on

think I read somewhere that star can only config a new cluster, and second hand ones can only be adjusted by 150km either direction?

thats how I read it on my star, not checked since I enabled developer mode

Star is the computers used by MB, and as mark above, only a new cluster can have the mileage re-coded into it !!
