Hi

Garage replaced all my wheel bearings, brake disks etc… About half of a year ago. Now there is noise coming out from the wheel on the driver's side and the garage said that it is the wheel hub this time.

Is it easy to replace wheel hub by myself ! Is it a easy to do job ?? Do I have to replace the wheel hub on passenger's side as well ??

Thanks for any advise!

Hi Melcome, yes, I discribe the sound to the garage and they said that it should be the wheel hub this time, as they changed my wheel bearing 6 months ago and the bearing should be still good.

Is it not the wheel hub make the sound ?? the sound is just like when the bearing gone south in my car last time.

Well the noise will be the bearing and not the hub.

Personally I've never know a hub become damaged even when there has been a catastrophic hub bearing failure (think watching a wheel over take you and roll off into the distance!).

It's probable that insufficient care was taken with refitting the bearing or that it was a bad quality part.

Yes as brandwooddixon, it is a badly done job

One of the most important things with bearings is that when tightening it the wheel must be rotated otherwise the rollers will make dents in the outer cage and this will shorten the life of the bearing.

The other thing is over tightening

Chris & Malcolm,

Thanks for your answer and I may have to talk to the garage again, no matter it is the fault of the spare part itself or they did something wrong when installing it, I have to change it again !

Thanks Gentlemen !
