I am considering replacing the wheels on my 1993 W124 300E.
It looks to be (on the surface anyway) to be not much more
expensive than having the Merc originals (15" 195 65%) re-conditioned.
It's the hassle factor really, the nearest re-con I found that will do a drive in-out job is 120 miles away.

What size rims will I need say for a 55% profile. I know nothing about the figures I have seen on some websites i.e offset? As a guesstimate a 17" 205 rim appears ok if fitted with 55% profile.

I would prefer a re-con to original.

I am going down the hassly route of having my original AMG monoblocks refurb'd by Diamond Styling. It involves dropping my car off at BSG Mercedes for 3-4 days and leaving it there on stands......

Upside, though, is that they do a full acid dip plus straighten one of the rims then re-finish outer with a lathe before repainting re-laquering and oven baking. Works out at £125 per corner. New rims £200+.

Alternative is a visit by Wicked Wheels at £60 a corner - a more superficial approach and it wouldn't fix my buckle.

Once done, as good as new.

Hi
I had my wheels refurbed by Eden Park Tyres Catford. They came back better than new. I paid £59 each and they lent me some wheels as well

That's the advantage of having normal-sized wheels and brakes - it's not easy to find rims that fit a C43 because of brake clearance problems.

Alloy replacement

All

Many thanks--I have decided to take BOTH options! New 17" 215 45 and tyres less than £650. Will re-furb the originals and use to trade in the W124 early next year. Will then fit the 17's to the yet to arrive CLK (Thanx Dr Benz for having the sense to use common fittings)
