Replacement Diff - SL55 AMG (52 plate)

Hi all

My car is currently with Mercedes in Coventry and they've advised me that the noise coming from the rear is actually coming from the Diff, and that it needs replacing...at a price a little over £3K.

Does anyone have any experience of this and whether this sounds reasonable?

I've called a couple of local independants, but the first one who came back to me said because it's an AMG he can't get the parts.

Any advice would be gratefully received...

I looked through your post but it didnt seem to have the conclussion, what happened in the end did you get a new replacement diff from MB ?
hope so, what a nice motor !

MB are in the process of replacing my differential, the differential that was the issue is the "newly replaced diff" which had not been through the stress that the original "youtube diff" had been through during my early days of ownership :Oops:, I treat my car with much more care and respect now, I had moments of madness during those times of which I am now embarresed by, It was a new to me then so I was showing off with my friend who had the camera, (the camera plays a big part) the issue with the newly fitted differential was there before i covered any mileage and brought to the attention of the garage withing 3 mins of driving the car!
