Replacement Ignition Key

My 12 year old CDI 220 suffered unexpected ignition failure which is probably due to incorrect jump-starting by body repair work shop who left boot lid up, courtesy light drained the battery etc. Well-known insurance company have been totally unhelpful and body repair work shop deny any wrong doing! The problem is that my vehicle has now had a second-hand family of components fitted comprising ECU, Ignition Switch and Electronic Steering Lock. Only one ignition key supplied by scrap dealer. I do not have V5 Form for the "donor vehicle"! Original keys no longer work and obtaining a new spare key through Mercedes Benz dealerships is impossible. I am considering taking my vehicle to Birmingham (I live near Glasgow so it will be a round trip of 620 miles plus cost of B&B & Diesel etc) to a small business known as www.replacementmercedeskeys.co.uk; this company say they can re-code my old keys and refit original ECU and Ignition Switch. Have any MBO members suffered a similar experience or do they know of anyone that has used www.replacemnetmercedeskeys.co.uk? Your help & advice would be greatly appreciated. I need to make the trip sooner rather than later

Mark does more than those 2 I believe reading the blurb, we have never had any comment from either of the 2 firms in the links. the later one only does keys by the look of it.

I know that Mark will do the EIS locks, and marry the EIS through out the car together. Many have used him and we know him well, he is a member here.

No,

Other companies offer key making services. I was the only person in 2010/11 in the UK.

Plus, I fix a lot of jobs done by others who claim to be specialists! I ONLY deal with Mercedes faults and don't make other make keys! My knowledge is DAS systems, advanced electronic repair and fault solutions.

I don't offer all car keys, nor do I offer to tint windows

One of the above links you posted have upset quite a few people by "fixing" there key by charging them twice the dealer would for something still broken!

Mark, I knew you were an early mover doing this, but as with all things, if there is money to be made many others will see the potential & get in on it. The chances you were the only person doing this now were approximately nil. I imagine there'll be someone in every town doing this in a couple of years.

The thing is it could not be done a couple of years back, Mark was the first.

No doubt others may start, but it could end up the same as with ECU repair companies like BBA reman, they will take a couple of hundred £££ and say sorry cannot be done.

Its been possible on other makes for years, MB's were the hard nuts to crack

I am sure you can sue them for that Mark ... Wonder if they link it or used the actual text .... Check it by making a subtle change on yours and see if its replicated.

A friend of mine had his ebay advert linked once ... So he doctored his ad to show somewhat rude Pictures and text , then unlisted it and made a new one... Other guy didnt know for days what had happened ... I know you cant do that here but..

Replacement Mercedes Key

Extremely remiss of me, but I owe a huge belated thanks and debt of gratitude to Mark & Ben at this company. They reinstalled the original ECU and remapped it; then reconfigured and synchronised the Ignition switch and electronic steering lock. All done in less than 2 hours. It was a long return journey for me to Birmingham from Glasgow, but these guys did a great job.
