Hi

I need to replace a leaking cylinder in my softtop roof. It's part number A2088000072. I've seen a US company offering replacements. Is this something that can be done in the UK?

Thanks in advance
Adam.

As I understand it it's a fairly simple task to replace seals.

If you're not comfortable doing it yourself remove the cylinder and take it to an hydraulic specialist - they should be able to source seals in the right material.

Ideally seals should be Viton. I doubt at that price the ones in the eBay listing will be

No they aren't. It was an example of the fact these things can be fixed.

Hi, I have the same problem on my 1999 CLK230. Apparently it is a common problem due to poor quality OEM seals, Does anyone know how to dismantle these (black) 208 8000 072. 172, and 272 cylinders? Seals are available from a company in Germany. Thanks for any info, joe
