Is replacing the front & rear brake disc pads on my 1998 R129 SL 320 a DIY task? do I need I need any special tools?. I am mechanically minded so know my way around a braking system. My pads are looking low and if the answer is yes to the above would like to replace at least the front soon. Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks.

Nothing special at all for your car, all you need is a pin punch to knock out the 2 pins and a lever to push back the pistons. Either under the bleed nipples,or push the fluid back up,the first method being the best way. In do not know what pads you are fitting, Mintex are OE but EBC are very good if your want to keep the wheels cleaner. Use the Mintex Cera Tex grease.

You apply it to the rear of the pads, onto the piston heads and backing plates,it stop them from squeeling

r129MAN,

I've just figured out how to save prints as a pdf file from WIS/ASRA.

Have a look at the attachment and see if it's of any use to you.

Cheers
Toby.

Ok not perfect, but I've split it into two files. I'll ask a techy here to fine-tune the process in future.
