kia cerato, sorry, but will be a mercedes
heya folks, new guy here, been following the advice and tips in the forum for a while now im so tempted by an e series that i promised myself a few years ago and one has turned up, 2000 240 elegance tip w 210? with lowish mileage and the right colour, except the steering wheel, lol, its that chocolatey light brown colour, in a grey and beige interior, was wondering how difficult it is to have the steering wheel changed to a grey standard one if one can be found and at a decent price, thanks in advance, george.

I would say atleast £500.

I would either just live with the colour or find another car. It wont make sense if you spend £500 after buying the car.

Welcome to the forum

It is no problem in removing the air bag,,just do not turn on the ignition with it unplugged.

Euromerc has lots of steering wheels cheap, and on Ebay

Thats not too bad then, you can get steering wheel for around £200 odd and then DIY it.

Correct, a torx bit 2" long size 30 for the bag, and a 10mm hex key to remove the wheel nut,, in all it takes about 20 mins

thanks for the replies television, amo rahal, some good clear advice and help there, it might be worth the 3 hr drive to see this car in the flesh yet, as ill never take the word of a car seller over the phone again as regards condition ie no rust on the arches, boot lid etc only to see bubbles at 10 feet away lol
thanks both, george.

How about simply dying the leather and colouring the airbag (not sure if that is leather?). There are paints available :)

lol, i did think about that too, the tint of the glass in the pic colours the leather part of the wheel to the "right" looking colour to match the dash etc, not sure how the plastic part would take a colour though but then again it is only a £2800 car with 49 thousand on it, plus, ive just been smitten by an s class at the same mileage with just another £1000 to find, http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1252502.htm why are these cars so addictive when you have money burning a hole in your pocket? lol

I guess its not good idea to do go see car then go back again to buy it. Best to go with money and insurance arranged and drive it back.

You do need to check on HPI before you commit to buy,,I went to Birmingham to see a 129 and it had been a CAT3 twice
