I have obtained a replacement unit for the front, drivers' side, yellow-lensed turn signal assembly, which I want to install myself.

Any instructions, tips or related assistance or encouragement in removing the existing (damaged) unit and installing the new one would be much appreciated.

Thanks all,

Barrie

Malcolm:
It's a 129. You might be (are probably) right about the "European" (as it is denoted hers) vs. the North American lighting lighting configuration. I remember having my first Mercedes (1982 380SL) brought in with the "European" headlights, as opposed to the bug-eyed look of the standard North American version.

I will look at the website for photos that will show me a non-North American 129 front view to see how it compares. I can tell you that on the version here, the headlight housing itself is adjacent to, but physically separate from, the yellow-lensed "parking/signal lamp assembly.

My editing did not get incorporated. Live and learn. Hope my meaning came through, nonetheless.

OK I now know what you want to do, on the inside under the hood there is a hole and you depress the clip that is built into the side flasher unit, and the flasher just slides out forwards, disconnect the lamp holder and reconnect to the new on and push it in until it clicks, if it does not click, it will fall out when you are driving and you will lose it.

You can see the catch on the end of the unit 77 in the link

This lamp is standard on all SL's its the repeater lamp that is not the same on USA cars
