Great cars my son has a 16 plate owned it for over 3 years and loves it. Only comment is that the brakes can be noisy his were on the test drive (the car had covered 17k) so we persuaded the MB franchise to replace all discs and pads which in all fairness they did one of the perks of buying from MB I suppose.

Stick with genuine parts and you won’t go far wrong

Sounds nice.

Note any issues or concerns down on the sales invoice. In case anything becomes an issue the consumers rights act is your ultimate warranty rather than any after sales warranty.

The only thing I would personally do is try and get a full interrogation by MB or specialist to ensure the car is not been clocked. Even dealers get caught out and German cars are notorious for it.

I’d it’s got fancy wheels take an inspection mirror and torch and check to ensure that the wheels are not cracked.

If it's a OM654 engine it's not a good one...

Perhaps worth confirming the service history. Irrespective of the low mileage, it should have had annual services in Sept 20 and Sept 21.

Good on the new car OP. I assume it is a MB dealer stock car. Make sure it has all the options you need. MB warranty is good. At that mileage it shold all be good. Haggle on the price/free servive

Do they know you may drive it away - tell then in advance, so they can get the car prepped and organise the paperwork and ask them upfront what you need to take (ID ETC)

Yeah it's MB dealer Approved Used. They know it is coming home with me but may go today for a look before collecting on Tuesday/Wednesday. 170 mile round trip though, about 3 grand at todays diesel price!!!

It is the OM654 and it can have issues with chain and camshaft wear but a lot of this is due to extended oil changes. I’ve just changed my BMW IL6 N55 engine oil and filter at 3k miles which is quite early but I wouldn’t go beyond 6k miles not if you intend keeping the car

Extended service intervals are only there to provide the illusion of lowered running costs and cause premature issues to help lone the pockets of the service departments.

If they are prone to be noisy then maybe another make might be a good idea.?

Plenty of well regarded alternatives.

Got me concerned now. Thought a 10k mile car was a no brainer
Forums are full of the tales of woe. For every car with an issue there are thousands without issues.

If the car is what you want go for it. If you're worried use extended warranties or put some money aside each month as a contingency fund.
If you don't use the fund you then have more aside for the next car.

Got 18 months warranty with it. 6 maths remaining manufacturers and 12 months Merc Used after. I'll probably extend it after that.
