Hi All, I was on here a while a ago and saw a thread about the procedure for resetting the gearbox by turning th e key to pos2 and holding down the throttle pedal but can't remember exactly what the right way to do it was and now cannot find the thread either!! Can anyone help by telling the how it's done? Many thanks ;)

Insert the Key
Turn it to the Run position, but do not start the car (turn the key to the last position before starting)
Floor the throttle pedal for 5-10 seconds, Turn the key to off, with the throttle still floored
Let off the throttle
Start the car

Some say wait two minutes before starting, some say it doesn't matter

Yes it will and yes, it seems to make a difference to the shift pattern.

Why would this procedure be necessary? What might change as a result?

It does not work. I have proved it with my Star.

Its just a placebo.

sorry have to agree with black on that one, gearbox and engine both run differnt control units linked via a can bus, holding down throttle with ign on isnt going to change anything, as black said star is the only way to change/recode and update any software in both of these control modules!!
