Took car in to have condensation cleaned from front fog lamp, ( I know it's easy but only had it a month and salesman promise to have it done ) and asked cost of X Vision reversing sensors, as advertised in stealership, including fitting. £250 each side ( I presume she meant for front or back ).

Bought a set which also includes LED display for under £30 from e-bay and fitted them yesterday, total saving of over £220 less a bit of my time for labour.

Now then, where did I save the link for DVLA personalised registrations..... :D :D :D :D :D :D

Not got any pics yet, fitted LED unit on dash to left ( under tax disc ) much easier than fitting in the centre of the dash and IMO just as good as it's not so obtrusive and can see it easily if I'm checking the n/s mirror.

Trophy...can you tell me where you got the silver sensor set? Wouldn't mind a set myself. I've only seen them in black. Also...were they difficult to fit?
Thanks.

Al, there's another set here, no bids at the moment so only 99p,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MERCEDES-BENZ...ryZ75330QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

you can specify silver sensors in a text box to the seller after you win the auction.

Fitting is similar to the post in the DIY section by R2e except I didn't fit mine in the centre of the dash.

Let me know if you want to meet as you're only about 30 miles from me, then you can see mine in the flesh, so to speak.

Nice job :D
Good idea to put it over there as well.

Got a slight problem with one of my factory fit rear sensors in that it has pushed in slightly  (my fault cleaning too hard)
Still works fine but need to think of something to pull / suck it out with.

Thanks form that Trophy. I may well take you up on your offer. I'm a wee bit nervous about drilling the holes in the bumper!
Anyway...13 hours till the end of the auction. I'll keep you posted.

Did you take the bumper off to fit them? As the location points for drilling are indicated on the inside of the bumper molded into the plastic.

Fitting to bumper strip as the instructions given in R2e's instructions inthe DIY section. I only removed the n/s strip and centre strip, didn't see the need to remove the o/s strip as well as you can jiggle the centre section out.

No, mine didn't have the location points marked but did have a centre line and measurement marks every 200mm, I think, laterally outwards from the centre of the centre trim. I marked just above the centre line to ensure sensors were level on the vertical face of the strip, lined up the strip with its fitted position and guesstimated the centre of each hole. Then final measure to ensure that sensor would fit easily into the hole in the bumper shroud when the trim was refitted.

The holes that the sensors fit into in the bumper shroud are more than large enough for the sensors, so I didn't go for millimetre precision, saying that I think it looks a neat and professional job anyway, even if it does sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet. lol
