Is it possible to retro fit if yes how much
any recommendations on garges

Don't know loads about this, only bit of info I can add is that aircon can be retrofitted, as mine has it. It's a Diavia system and I've been told by various aircon people that it's one of the better ones.

I have had some problems with it, but it turned out to be the connector to the black box of tricks was loose.

Sorry I can't tell you more.

sell the car and buy one with a/c fitted do you now the dash and bulhead get stripped out there never the same car again

I am pretty sure that Hella at Byfleet, Surrey do a retrofit system.
The Diavia system was £1,500 fitted about 2 years ago, dont know how much it is now but it is a very labour intensive job to fit as an after thought much easier when the vehicle is on the production line, I have just ordered a new van with air con, a £650 option...bargain !

I ask this question before last year, but eventually I haven't done it, due to the stupid manufacturer called 'Diavia'! Which make us really angry!!! :evil:

The comapny I contact is the well know Andy Gale, he quote me the price, which is about £2300, with Diavia, ( I have to say, Diavia is the best and most reliable one) although is not the cheapeast, but I trust him, as he is the real Merc specialist.

BUT I have to tell you that, this is entirely not his problem, is the problem of the stupid Diavia company from Italy.

They could supply us the kit, but when Andy try to order it in July for us, we wait for few week and Andy ring them back and find out that, their compnay in Italy have a summer holiday! which the whole company colse and can't supply us the kit until the middle of Sepember! Any try his best to find me the kit in Btitain, but unfourtunately, we can't find it.

So finally I have got air con in my 300E! If you want the Diavia air con, do it now, unless you can't get it later on.

Glad to hear you have had AC fitted. I havn't contacted Diavia again since that little episode.


I know it was frustrating for you, but it was just as frustrating for me. Especially when they come out with such excuses as closing down for summer break.

Its no wonder that their ecconomy wasn't doing to well.

Sorry, I type the wrong word, not 'have', should be 'haven't' , Andy, I still haven't got any aircon in my old 300E, but I survice withg my E280, but is a Pity that we can't solve it out

Andy, you are absolutly ture, this is the reason why our economy well ahead the other european countries, we all working hard and also have our talent to do our job, what ever our race, background and knowlege, this is the main ingredient to build up the 'Great Britain' today!
