Hi,
For the folding mirrors I will send you a small PDF file (if you have allowed e-mails to be sent to you via the forum in your profile) with detailled instructions on how to fit, please confirm that its applicable to your year of W210.
Illuminated sunvisors I have fitted in both my W202's, and everything required was sourced from 2 scrap w210's, one being a "P" plate and the other being a "R" plate.
I sourced my Illuminated visors and looms from
http://www.mercman.net
Visors from either a W202 or W210 will fit and are a direct replacement for the original items (regardless of age). You will also require a small part of loom, which runs from the inboard clip of the visor to a plug in your overhead light console.
This loom was different in the donor vehicles, the difference being the plug that goes to the overhead console
the Pt. No,s are as follows:-
202 810 10 12 this was off the "P" plate W210 and fitted my "P" plate C230K.
202 810 12 12 this was off the "R" plate W210 and fitted my "T" plate C43 AMG.
MB had difficulty in identifing the loom so I decided to take them from the doner cars too and the number I sourced from the looms themselves.
I think I,m right in saying this is if your W202 or W210 has the red and green L.E.D.s in the rear view mirror (R.V.M.) you will require the early loom.
Once you have sourced the parts It took me approx. 1/2 hour to fit and wire up the visors.
Can be a little fiddly routing the loom through the head lining, but not to bad.
To remove the overhead light console on the earlier model requires removing the R.V.M. which I found an absolute cow to put back up.
But the later one the overhead console can be taken down without the removal of the R.V.M.

I have only Identified the Auto dimming R.V.M. to work on the later W210's and W202's at the moment (though I do have a Pt. No. for the mirror I cannot confirm it is correct as yet), i.e. If your vehicles has,nt got the red and green L.E.D.'s it will require Auto dimming R.V.M. Pt. No. A 208 810 02 17 (this number superseded the orginal Pt. No. B6 6 81 8609), If buying new from MB please ensure they order the right colour to match your trim I also sourced this from the Mercman (It was brand new still in the box).
All that is involved in fitting is to remove the existing R.V.M., remove the overhead console, replace and fit new R.V.M., route cable from new mirror to overhead console and plug in, replace overhead console, simple as that.

Puddle lights require 2 additional cables run through the door to the new puddle light fittings, from the main plug of the door loom.
Ensure that on the bottom edge of the door panel that there is a plastic blanking piece, remove this and replace with Pt. No. 1268201301 which is the light fitting.(check this is the correct number for the fitting).
Remove door sill to expose the plastic cable ducting toward the front and inside of the ducting you will find a 28 pin connector, unplug this and from the plug going to the door run the 2 cables to the new puddle light fittings and connect. Connect cables to pins no. 21 and 22, at the main door loom.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Mark,
I presume your C43 did,nt have Auto dimming R.V.M., Illuminated sun visors or puddle lights fitted standard either.
The R.V.M. was listed at approx. £140 in 2000 W210/W202 accessory catalogue under the superseded Pt. No.
I managed to get a new one still boxed from Mercman in Southampton for £70.
The Illuminated sun visors as I had 2 pairs cost me £15 each (normally £20 each). The looms he gave to me in the price.
I have previously priced the early loom at approx. £9, but I believe that a lot of parts like this have been made obsolete, but do try MB if you can,t get 2nd hand as I do now have the Pt. No's.
Puddle lights I,m in the process of obtaining complete front door looms from a W210 E class which had fitted puddle lights and Auto dimming door mirror glasses standard. Which should work in mine.
The only PDF document I have is a step by step Installation of folding mirrors, which I thought was standard on a C43 if you would like it send me an e-mail via this site and I,ll forward it to you.
I eventually want to put very late W210 folding door mirrors on it as they have the indicator repeater in them. But these are,nt just plug and play as I believe that one of the plugs is different, and second hand they are quite hard to get.

Hi Mark,

No, indeed not more's the pity. Still, at least you're saying that they can be retrofitted which is something :)

The R.V.M. was listed at approx. £140 in 2000 W210/W202 accessory catalogue under the superseded Pt. No.
I managed to get a new one still boxed from Mercman in Southampton for £70.

Thats not too bad, and having had one before on a BMW I had a few years back now I know it's one of those little luxuries that though at first you don't really think much of is certainly miss when no longer there ;)

No's.

Again, not too bad on price - and worthwhile doing...or getting someone else to do for me perhaps. Depends on how tricky it is I guess.

Puddle lights I,m in the process of obtaining complete front door looms from a W210 E class which had fitted puddle lights and Auto dimming door mirror glasses standard. Which should work in mine.

Well keep us updated with progress on that then Andy & good luck!

The only PDF document I have is a step by step Installation of folding mirrors, which I thought was standard on a C43

Hmm - not standard on mine  Bet they're expensive too :(

if you would like it send me an e-mail via this site and I,ll forward it to you.

Thanks - PM sent with email address details for you to send this on to then.

I eventually want to put very late W210 folding door mirrors on it as they have the indicator repeater in them. But these are,nt just plug and play as I believe that one of the plugs is different, and second hand they are quite hard to get.

Sounds like they would make a nice touch - again, keep us informed of progress as I'd be interested to see whether it works or not before getting stuck in to replacing mine with folding ones as having indicators in too is also something I like the idea of if it's possible :)

Thanks for your efforts on this and the prices break down :) Hopefully see you @ the Hampshire meet in May

Cheers,
Mark

Hi,
Thanks for the feed back Mark, I,m looking forward to the GTG in May.
I have sourced more info on other mods like fitting headlamp wash wipe, Heated washer bottle, blinking mirrors etc.
I have always looked at later Mercedes with the colour coded door handles and always wondered why I had not seen them on a W202, but the door handles on a W202 are plastic type material and have,nt got a very good surface for painting, and no W202 ever had painted door handles from the factory.
I think I have now sourced the part nos. for these off of another type of Mercedes and are available already painted.
I,m going to order them tomorrow, when I get them and know they fit I will post the Pt. No's if any one is interested.
To update my previous posts regarding puddle lights, only the pre facelift
W202 cables go to the 28 pin connector in the plastic cable trunk.
The face lift vehicles like my C43 AMG the cables go to pins 1 and 5 on the door control unit.
Parts needed as below:-
A 008 545 55 26 : contact bushing : x2 (for pins 1 and 5 of the door control unit).
A 202 540 69 08 : cable harness : x2 (I think these harnesses may now be obsolete but they are only 2 lengths of approx. 2ft. cable per door with push on connectors for the lights).
A 126 820 13 01 : interior lamp : x2
N 072601 012130 : bulb : x2

I,m not buying the sensors on the front doors as I,m gonna get them painted at the same time as I get the bumpers and bonnet repainted on the C230K.
Have you only got the one door handle sensor in your car?
My C43 has a sensor in both front door handles and the C230K has just one in the drivers door.
I will buy handles for both cars once I can confirm that the numbers I have are correct.

Hiya,

Thanks for this.
I too am interested in installing the folding mirrors & dimming RVM and if you have the info, a parking sensors/alarm.

Currently Im retrofitting a double din mount and the centre console trim so I can install my stereo.

I have the trim on order from Germany with the 5 buttons on the top, they did ask if I wanted any more button holes. The question is whether the folding mirrors require an additional button installing. If so, I'd better cancel the order and reorder with an additional button.

many thanks for this.

Well I finally got round to taking my front door panels off on the C43 AMG ,to install O.E.M. puddle lights.
I had ordered the light units themselves from MB and some crimp pins for the door control unit plug. Well I tried to locate sockets 1 & 5 (where the new lights are fed from) and they already had cables in them and on closer inspection I found the two connectors for the light tucked up and taped in the loom, re-routed them to the new fitting in the door panel, connected up. Job done now I have working puddle lights.
This little mod cost me less than a fiver and half an hour of my time. Not bad for a £50+ option when new.
Think I,m gonna try fitting the MB electric blind for the rear window next.

Your E-Class should have indicators in the mirrors, folding mirrors with indicators that you require are as rare as hens teeth (second hand), I,m looking for a set myself for my C43 AMG, I,ve even tried getting a set from Europeon scrap yards and no joy. Dimming Rear view mirror should be just plug and play, it was in both my C Classes, can be confirmed by looking at the domed courtesy light and checking for the socket.

Hi,
This mirror should fit the face lifted w202s, W210s and w208s cars and directly plugs into the interior light cluster.
I just got myself a grey one for my C230K and that has a black interior, because the headlining and sun visors are grey it does,nt look out of place.

Hi bigasoton , i recently posted a thread about doing this sort of thing on my 124 , unfortunatly it seems nobody knew . Id like to upgrade it to things like dimming mirror , lit vanity mirrors , outside temp gauge , elec passenger seat would be great and rear blind etc , i'm sure most of these items could be found in specialist Merc breakers quite easily but im not sure if the main loom has the plugs for these items , so that i could just get the small linking looms when the parts come from the donor vehicles . Any idea if this is possible or would i have to do a lot of wiring myself ? Plus what your saying about door handles , it would be great to have a remote sensor in the passenger handle , do you know if this is possible on a 124 ? God knows why it doesn't have one as standard the remote range and angle is rubbish anyway without having to walk around to the boot or drivers door !
Thanks Richard.

Hi,
I think you,ll find most extras you mentioned will fit with little hassle but locating the information, pt. no. etc parts like wiring looms especially the smaller looms may be hard as I finding wiring looms obsolete even on the w202 and thats newer than the w124.
Keep me posted I would be interested in what you find out/do.

Anybody with a CLK, 1998 onwards W210 E Class, and W202 C Class, fancy Auto dimming RVM just plug and play, found this on E-Bay.
