I have a C280 Estate 2006 with dvd based comand APS incorporating steering wheel controls. However, the system is not pre-wired. I have bought a Viseeo MB-2 with a view to installing in centre arm rest where I see there is a square to punch out for the contact platter of wiring to be installed. Thus, negating the need to replace the arm rest tray.

What do I need in terms of cabling and modules ?

Does everything plug into comand ?

Will the microphone in the rear view mirror work ?

Am I able to purchase the parts needed from Mercedes Benz ?

I am grateful for any advices and of any problems or pitfalls there are.

Everything you need can be bought from MB, it's an official retrofit.

You can also buy all you need from www.comandonline.co.uk and significantly cheaper. They can also arrange installation through the sister company www.comand.co.uk

Does your RVM have the mini grills for the mics? I didn't think they were included in all RVMs especially as you don't have pre-wire.

I'm not sure but you may also require some coding to be done. This would need to be done by some one with STAR

Many thanks whitenemesis for your advices. The RVM does have the grills along the bottom. Do I take it that a microphone & wiring may be present. Emphasis on 'may' ?

Would the parts order code 386 refer at MB ?

Is this a job best left to a qualified technician ?

386 is the SA code for telephone pre-wire. Do you have this on the card at the back of your service book?

You say you have a "plastic square to punch out" in the arm rest, could this actually be the connector for the phone cradle? A picture would be good!

I think you may already have everything in place and simply need to install the ViseeO

Post up your VIN and I can check what you have

Checked with Mercedes database and confirmed no pre-wire.

The square is indented or marked into the felt covering of the tray. Definitely no UHI Platter or wiring there.

I have sent email to comand for costing of fitting. I take it that they fit the phone kits as well as the comand ?

Many thanks.

I have had a message from comand and a quote of £799.00, 3 hours fitting time and that they have a fitting service in and around Woking, Surrey. Do they not have fitters for my neck end of the woods, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. The reason I ask, is, I have read customer feedback from Sunderland (45 mins North East from me) who stated 2 fitters attended to his vehicle to fit a complete comand unit.

Grateful for your advices on this one.
