Hi!

I have noticed just how fast the vast headlamps on my 124 get dirty.

I'd like the wipers, and wondered if they also had washers in the arms.

Also,to retrofit them,is it a matter of getting the motors/underlight trims with holes, and plugging into the loom??

Oh,and is it possible to flash a more interesting map onto the ECU on these? What engine management system does the M111.960 have??

TIA

Steve:)

Don't do it. They are nothing but trouble- motor spindles seize frequently. Far better to install the newer high power water jet found on later models and mount on the bumper.

An engine remap is not really an option on these cars--- they are for effortless cruising at motorway speeds not traffic grand prix. You could probably extract a little more power with a free flow exhaust system but the only effective way to "tune" this engine is with a supercharger or turbocharger---- which is precisely what MERCEDES went and did with their Kompressor engines

agreed don't do it, those wipers on the front lights are prone to breaking and look like crap so quickly, in Sweden it was 'law' that all cars (from a certain era) had to have the wipers on them, and if you see any of these old cars nowadays they look plain stupid, with one wiper hanging down and the other in the up position, like this.... or sometimes they just fall off...

I don't have them on the 230CE, but do on the 320. Still not sure about keeping them. To be honest I don't even know if they work. I presume they function when you use the windshield wash. I don't think I would retro fit them they make the front to cluttered. converting to the more modern style as Grober suggests would be an interesting mod though.

I agree the wipers are awful. I'd look around and see if you can find some headlamp washer nozzles off a later car to retrofit. Then plumb them in to clean the headlights

I would just walk around a car park and see what cars nozzles that would look good on the 124,it does not matter if not MB.

There was a guy in france (goes by the name Frenchy ironically) who fitted some Range rover sport jets onto his bumper, they work fine, I'll try and find the link if possible.

If you are handy with certain mods and dont mind cutting your bumper to fit them, they're a neat mod to do.

I would also like to see that mod, hope you can find the link.

And one advantage of the 124 is the bumper comes off so easily to do this in comfort :D:D

.

Woah thanks for the deluge of responses guys, and Happy New Year to you all too ! :D

I like the look of the wipers too.
However,if I did have to hack a front bumper about,I'd not mind.Later in the year,I'm putting the AMG replica front and rear bumpers on her.
I'll worry about the side skirts later on.

Need to ponder these options now.

Cheers

Steve.;)
