Rev counter not not working

i know of many diesels that take the rev counter feed from the alternator. fords particularly. often if the alternator stops charging the rev couter stops working. it may be different on the newer common rail engines, hence why i asked the question

On a Mercedes it matters not what the car is, never taken from the alternator Pete

Took out radio and disconnected , no different ,But fixed my radio the aerial was out , Plan 2 please ?

On the diesels the rev counter was an extra, in place of the clock, the speed signal is taken from the front CPS where it goes into the diag box and on wards

See what I can find to help

Any more ideas what else I could check to see why rev counters not working the clock inside the same dial works ok....so the rest of dash appears ok could it be plugged out at rear of clock .... Is it hard to lift the instrument panel out of a 95 w124 e300 d.

Update for those with rev counter not working on w124
Hope your as lucky as me

A 10 amp fuse was blown ,located under the cover at bulk Head behind battery.
Worth checking first as cheap fix.

Thanks to advice I got on forum.
