Hi,

We spent the weekend down Cotswolds at the weekend in a place called Low Mill Estates what a lovely place, Anyway on the way back i decided to clear the sinuses on the SLK, while going at some speed on a clear Mway i kicked down and it dropped two gears at shot off like a Euro Fighter, when the car redlined in 3rd i think at about 110 to 120 it lurched and lost momentum as it did not change up quick enough, now im sure this is not normal as surely being a auto box it should change up automatically before the limiter comes into effect,It only took a few seconds to redline so pehaps i fooled it.!!. Now i had my foot to the floor so i supose kickdown was still activated thus preventing it from changing up, when it did go up a gear whosh and off she wen't back in to balistic mode again.

Could some one explain why the change up did not apply quick enough so not to hit the rev limiter or do you have to lift off pedal briefly for it to change.

Apart from that the sinuses were relived and she drives a treat :p

Gear box control unit could be at fault. It failed on mine at only 4500 miles only a year old. Was told they fail regularly by dealer.

I've no idea why your car would hit the limiter but I question the wisdom of posting your high speed antics on an open forum. Unless of course you were talking Kph. ;)
