Hi,

Im just wondering if anyone has received a fault message on their Mercedes. I have a Mercedes a class automatic. Twice in 2 weeks I’ve had the error ‘reverse not poss, consult workshop’ come up. It happens when I’m driving and it feels like I’m stuck in a lower gear. The engine just makes revving noises whilst driving along at 20mph. The message disappears after being turned off.

Thanks

Keely

Very likely it’s just a sensor that’s giving a wrong signal but the best way to confirm is to have a STAR test done and see what codes it’s throwing up and then the associated tests to find the actual root cause.
How old is the car and what model?

Thanks for your reply Matty :)

it’s a 2014 A Class. I couldn’t seem to find much about it online. I’ve booked it in Mercedes. Hopefully they can find the problem.

You would be better off as the car is out if warrenty seeing a local Mercedes independent specialist, their labour charges would be half that if a dealer.
Where are you based and the members here can probably recommend someone close to you.

I’m based in Harlow, Essex. Think I’d be better of finding an independent specialist, if anyone has any recommendations?

Thank you :)

If you don’t mind travelling then AMF Automotive across the bridge in dartford would also be recommended, run by one of our members here @alexanderfoti

No car:(
Hi, wondering if you managed to resolve it?
I've had the same exact issue come up a couple of times now

Message comes up, doesn't go up gears and when I stop the car and turn it off and then on after 5 mins, the warning disappears and everything's normal.

hi,

Sorry for the late reply. I had a gearbox software update, but that did nothing still got the error come up again. Mercedes did a health check for me and couldn’t find any fault whatsoever. I haven’t had the message for a while but I’m always weary of it happening. It’s a weird one that no one seems to know what it is.

B class
I have a 2013 b class 25000 miles very well looked after and mine starting to it as well, it effectively goes into limp mode only using 2 4 and 6 gears however no warning signs shown but as above I turn off for 5 mins and it’s gone it’s starting to happen to me every time I go on the motorway, car going in garage tomorrow so I’ll post when or if the problem solved. I don’t recommend but I did drive 25 miles in this limp mode.

It needs a software update to start with, then a few other things like a specific oil level check and adaptions using Mercedes specific diagnostic equipment (xentry) if the problem persists.
