Hi ,

This morning I posted a question about after market bit's and pieces

So I decided to download the CLK accs brochure and found this thing called quickparc

Basic Kit - 280.00
Vehicle specific kit - 29.00

Total - 309.00

So I phoned up a local MB dealer and asked how much they charge to install parking sensors ( I did not tell him I had already checked the Internet) He told me to supply and fit 4 sensors to my rear bumper would be 1200.00 !!!

I then explained that in the CLK brochure on the net that the price of the kit is only 309.00 so where is he getting the other 900.00 from . He told me it's labour intensive . Surely not 900.00 quids worth !!

I'm not no einstein and I hope I wasn't born yesterday , But is this guy taking the p*** ?

Sounds like a rip off, I would ask the dealer to give a breakdown of the labour involved ;-)

While allowing for a moderate variation in price between different parts of the country, I would have expected MB servicing/workshop prices to be similar for the same job wherever its done.
Or am I being naive?
Please pardon my ignorance. I have yet to get my car serviced.

Funny you should mention service

Mine just had it's first B service MB @ Bishops Stortford wouldn't really give me a price for the service , I had a bad feeling about that , So instead I went to a company called MercAid in Basildon . Not a main dealer I know , But never the less a very reputable company .

B service - 399.77 inc vat + a free courtesy car

Happy days

Did they explain why they wouldn't give you a price?

My local dealer (and in fact all the Inchcape group dealers) are doing B services on many models for just over £300. I do think that they way MB organise the servicing with variable mileage intervals but then other work required at fixed times, makes figuring out service costs harder than it needs to be.
