Risk of Injury - Automatic locking

There is a serious risk of injury when the automatic central locking on an E270 W211 is activated.

Whilst pulling away yesterday, with the windows down, my wife had her arm resting on the door / window area. As the cars speed increased the auto locking kicked in and locked all the doors.

The locking button on the passenger side (under my wifes arm) withdrew into the door taking with it a portion of my wives flesh. She instinctively pulled the arm upward leaving a very nasty bruise.

Ofcourse I immediately pulled over (not) and rendered first aide (laughed).

Seriously this must have hurt a bl**dy lot.

Sounds like a feak accident as merc buttons are flat edged so shouldn't normally be able to grip or catch anything on their way down.

She shouldn't be posing and turn the a/c on. . I once heard that mercedes were sued by some family, who's son was playing with the tailgate lock on a 124 est and it "bit" his finger. ouch.

I thought I was the only one who'd had this happen. Caught my arm on the passenger side as the wife drove off, just a nasty little nip really, but possible even with a Merc button :Oops:

Well no way to do that on an SL as the buttons are too far back and no way that they could nip you
