I've noticed how the tax is going up year after year in my case roughly £20.00 each time. I know that historically there's always been an increase, usually about a Tenner.
I have the feeling that this is because of the ammount of EV's / Hybrids now being sold which are tax exempt or near enough and us with propper cars are balancing the books for the government.
Will it get worse the more milk floats are sold.

I think EVs should be Taxed by weight in direct comparison with ICE powered vehicles.

Don’t worry, as soon as the government has manipulated how many folks they need in EVs, watch them do the usual and unleash the whip.

3 of my cars are free tax, wonder how long that'll last, hope they don't tax them on pollutants.......
I'm with you @Snake Charmer, tax on weight, like they do with lorries. All this quick acceleration on the electric cars will start to deteriorate road surfaces, especially at traffic lights and junctions. Just like the surfaces at drag race tracks. They need constant up keep.

Don't fall 4 it as, soon as enough on duracells the tax will arrive properly. Buy a classic sort it out. Tax mot exempt for the fore see able.
Like scooters can use ur own, but can PAYa council to use theirs time to tax push bikes for over 18,s they are a f pain in the road and they shud do theory test as well.

2025 is when Ev’s will pay road tax

Yes new EV's first registered from 1st April 2025 will be subject to the lowest band in first year which is always included in the on the road price anyway, then from second year onwards will be subject to standard rate which is currently £180, but will have risen significantly by the time we get there.
All existing EV's first registered before 1st April 2025 will be subject to the current standard rate at renewal.
Ev's first registered from 1st April 2025 will also have to pay the complete rip off so called luxury tax, and I dread to think how much that will have risen by April 2025 while likely still retaining the £40k threshold set in April 2017.

The bsds will hav a tag on our backs charging us for air next.. No Rd tax here unless on tolls but last week I saw diesel at 1.98 at one garage. These f, s are allowed to change rates during the day 5cweek ago 1. 61 at leclerc Last Fri 1.83. So even here a lottery.. I now make a materials list and head off once a week any other day I stuck I attempt to sort garden, will be a Yr.

diesel and petrol just gone up here from 141 to 150/ litre in 1 week, yes we are all taxed to death and evs will be part of it thats for sure.

I've noticed the same thing. Why the increase in between the petrol stations getting there tanks refilled. Profiteering springs to mind as always.
