Hello - first post so please be patient with me!
I drive a 2013 (facelift model) E220 SE CDI Estate. I am heading over to France in August and I want to purchase a Sanef Tag to allow me to use the priority lanes at toll booths. The instructions on their website say to place the tag in the mottled area of the windscreen around the rear view mirror. This area is completely filled with equipment in my car and leaves only one or two rows of black dots - not enough space for the tag to be fitted. Does anyone know of an area it can be placed in my windscreen so the radio signals from the toll booths still reach the tag?

I used one of these tags this summer. Brilliantly simple! And I could use the wider nearside HGV lane with my caravan in tow.
Unless your screen one of these metalic/blue screens like you often see on Renaults (please excuse my French ;)) They suggest the shaded area because that bit is clear from the metalised heat reflective bit. I don't think you'll have a problem if it's fitted anywhere other than the shaded bit of your screen.
I found that you need to pull up quite close to the barrier before the tag bleeps & the barrier lifts though ...... a bit un-nerving at the first toll booth

My co-driver (SWMBO) on our recent trip just waved the tag vaguely in the direction of the sensor on the tool booth and it worked perfectly well. Apart from once when we were using a non-Sanef operated road, which caused some slight concern/embarrassment reversing out of the Tag only booth

Just to the left of my mirror on the shaded area. ;)

Mine is in the top left hand corner of the shaded area ,but it will work just outside of that area too. You can even hold it in your hand as someone said earlier.
Have a good trip and remember to follow the speed limits !

Regards

Mine is just next to the mirror on the drivers side, no reflecty windscreen so you can effectively stick it anywhere.

Taking a van over this weekend, so will be waving it about tomorrow night

This may help - if you can reach it - from Jaguar owner's forum; bottom of page 3.

I think there were potential problems for the signalling through heated windscreens, but doesn't seem to have caused a problem.

Hi
It's my car you linked to on the Jaguar UK forum
Just to make it clear the screen on my fully loaded XJ Sovereign caused absolutely no problems with the French toll road peage pass.
Used it for many years trouble free but it needs returning to France once in a while to replace the battery. The battery in the windscreen pass drains after about a year which means it won't work.

All the way back to French France for a battery? Surely Harrogate can sort a battery out

Thank you all for your posts. Having returned from a lovely holiday in France I can confirm that the tag worked when stuck just to the left of the rear view mirror on my new model E220. Just got to wait for the bill now, but some lengthy queues avoided so well worth it.

That's great.
You'll probably get debited the toll costs from your bank account in about a month.

Yup you can go online and check the transactions as they appear. I have just received my online statement from my last trip on weekend of 15th July for debiting from my account on the 28/8/13 so better in fact than the credit card :)

Off again to give it a whirl tomorrow night into Saturday for a couple of weeks :)

hi guys
im thinking of driving to Euro Disney next year would this be worth it for me as that will be the only time I will use it?
I will park the car up while at Disney so it will only be 1 trip down and 1 trip back
cheers

We went there last year when staying about an hour NE of Paris.
It's not a patch on Florida Disney.
Got stung for €25 to park for the day and a lengthy trek back as not all the "travellators" (flat escalotors) were working to get to the coolbox in the boot of the car to save getting stung for meals for family of 4.
Hope you enjoy queues.
Worth it for the 4 yr old but once was enough

Just drove down to lake como in north Italy didnt bother with the pass thing. Found none of the tolls to be busy at all bar 1 that took us 5 minutes to clear.

I reckon on our total journey it was around €140 each way which included the exorbitant cost of €40 each way through the Frejus tunnel into Italy.

Had only 1 hold up on the entire continental leg of the journey for about 20 minutes due to a major crash on one of the Autoroutes.

Got back to the UK and spent 3 hours stuck in the m25 then another 40 minutes on the m40 ...

Roads in France and Itay were a dream to drive....
