went to local DVLA to surrender a roadtax and renew for another, was jesting with the woman counter staff, is it going up in April?

She said yes, everything are going up. Those with over 225g for cars before 2006 will get a nasty shock with no mercy.

That link gives the current prices, not from April 2011 as far as I can see.

This from Parkers when the new regime was announced suggests that there will indeed be an increase:

    K

    201-225

    £245

    L

    226-255

    £425

    M

    Over 255

    £435

Please note: All cars registered between March 2001 and March 2006 that produce more than 225g/km CO2, will temporarily join Band K in 2009 and 2010.

I took it as meaning that 2001 -2006 cars with >225 are currently on reduced rated but that will expire in 2011.

I bought 6mths tax on mine a couple of years ago to switch the change point from Sep 1st to Mar 1st to delay having to pay the increases by almost a year.

If my memory serves me right was not the big hike postponed for a couple of years, and that was 2 years ago when all this was first announced

We all know the car tax system is another revenue creating joke.

Aside from high consumption cars paying massive more tax by using more fuel, anyone who has a DPF that incorrectly purports to help save the environment then uses more fuel and runs with increased g/km and likely goes up a band.
