Where I live its €1293 .............. and my 1994 E220 costs €823 !!

just visited the vehicle tax office site, it gives rates for cars tax rate from 1st april. 2011.

CARS REGISTERED BEFORE 1ST MARCH 2001 ARE BASED ON ENGINE SIZE. OVER 1549CC'S. COST 12 MONTHS TAX. £215.

so if you own a 1997 car which to state the obviouse does not fall into the pre 1996 category, then the co2 emisions does not apply. ? that is my interpretation. herbiemercman.

Yes based on the log book, the older style do not state the emissions and the rates only apply to those that do, plus the larger pre 2006 cars go through at the £245 rates
