Rough gearbox

My gearbox been a bit ruff today when coming to a standstill like getting bumped from behind lol.might get it serviced but doubt that will cure something like that but it’s never been very smooth.anybody have any ideas? It doesn’t feel very nice and doesn’t do it every time think it’s the 7g trash/tronic gearbox in my 2010 cls

How many miles has it done?
Has the ATF been changed every 40k?
Have you checked your ATF level?

If its (Over)due a change, it may all it needs

Not sure how to check the level? It got changed a few years ago and don't think the car has done even 5k miles since then.is a gearbox service something you can do yourself? I quite enjoy working on it

There is usually a dipstick towards the rear of the engine.
Car in park, engine running.
check level, - also look at the fluid, it should be a clear light red, and smell ’sweet’.

If fluid is brown/black or smells like burnt toffee, definitely change it.

I have a 212 E350CDI going into 1st when cold is never smooth, a know problem. Never gets any worse & improves when the box is warm.

Not on a 7g unfortunately. It can only be done from below and you need a pump. Plenty of how to’s on here - there was a good write up done by Wighty not that long ago.

Might give Stuttgart garage a call see if they can have a quick look
