Hi

Could anyone tell me what could be causing "rumbling" at the back end,the only way to try and describe it is its usually when I go over a rough peice of road.It sounds as if somethings loose near the shocks or somewhere like that,I know its one those "I cant tell till' I see it" type noises, but I thought I'd ask.Oh! I haven't touched anything at the back at all,not yet!,I mean could it bearings/bushes,or just worn shocks (back),cause' I know the back sits quite low.
Mind you here's something, the rumbling doesn't "start" right away,I'm usual driving for about 5/10 minutes first, anyone any ideas?

regards

Could be something to do with the exhaust which is
why it doesn't start for 5-10 minutes. During this time
the system is "growing" and could be bringing it into close contact with something. Maybe the rubber hangers are getting a bit loose which is why you
now have the problem. It could be just that simple a fix.
If it only does it going over bumps it almost certainly is

Hi Mark

yea,I thought I'd got it "sussed",cause' I found the back box loose,so I replaced the two rubber rings that hold it on at the end,but its not that.
but yes i know what you mean, there must be something loose under there,I'll have another look, thanks.

i cant remember how many miles you said yours had done, but it might be the bearings, however thats usually an irritating whining noise rather than a rumble.

its not something daft like your tyres pumped up too hard it is?

Hi Mark/Matt

yes that was my "******",in the previous letter, the system wouldnt recognise my username & password!!,dunno why.But anyway in reply to you guy's  though as I said to mark it was the back box rubbers as it had none,it wasn't.I put it through an MOT yesterday, and its not bearings.I think what it is now is the spare wheel!,how can I explain this,I have a tow bar on mine and in the spare wheel well,y'know the piece of wood/carpet which covers the "well",its sitting on the wheel itself, and not on the chassis, the wheel isn't getting clamped down enough by the "basin shaped" thing.Because the well has been bashed up from the bottom (to make room for the tow bar,na! I cant figure it out either),cause' its bolted through the wheel well, what a contraption I tell ya.So whats happening is when I go over bumps the wheel & the wood covering are going up/down hence the rumbling,so I think now hopefully Iv'e cracked it.
Mmmm,Mercs who would have them!.

Regards
