I've found three or so references to the Peter Russek service manuals on the forum, but haven't been able to establish if they're any good.

Has anyone used them and would you recommend or otherwise? They appear not to cover bodywork - very honest of them - but just wanted to check before I shelled out my 15 notes.

This is in the absence of anything else apparently available for my S210/96 E200 estate.

Thanks folks:)

Hello Alex, I have never heard of these manuals, what are they, and what do you want to do with your car. (or know)

Hello Malcolm

I stumbled across these manuals doing a - fairly elaborate - google search. Turns out they're stocked on Amazon and sold on ebay

http://www.motorbooks.co.uk/showsect.asp?id=199

I was really just after something to help my way around the car. I have some real basics like - possibly - changing the fan and some other things which I'd like to tackle. Most of the big stuff, when it happens, will be dealt with by my independent.

I've just always had a manual for my vehicle and this was all I found.

Yes it is nice having some form of refference to do these jobs, it gives that little bit of confidence when doing something, If you spent your £15 you could tell us how good it is, there are a lot of people out there who would love a good manual.

I bought CD's off Ebay of the WIS Merc manuals and although they are tedious and complicated to load the strip down procedures are OK and the Illustrations good. I paid about £14 inc p&p for mine, if you do a search on E class you will probably find one ot two offerings.

Hello Malcolm - thanks for this. I've seen them too, but seem to remember them covering every W or S210 except my wee E200. Must have another butcher's.....

Cheers
