There has been the odd thread on the forum about MB wheel bolts and how they go rusty.I found the answer on EBay,a set of chrome plastic slip on covers look the real thing set the wheels off.

They are fine providing the holes for the bolts are large enough to be able to get them off

Do they give you something to get them off with

....I can remember using these many years ago for the same reason. I'll admit they do give you a quick fix but I found that over time they become stuck and you end up having to prise them off with a screwdriver, with the plastic being so soft you end up damaging them.

I'd advise you smear a bit of grease on the inside of the flats so they come off easily.

A plastic cover will only trap water and then help rot the heads of the bolts, a dab of grease on the bolt may be a better bet.

Don't forget - if your car's still under warranty you can get some nice new ones free from your local friendly dealers.

Hi - I think I need to resurrect this old thread!

The CLK55 we have bought has scruffy, rusty wheel bolts. It's 5 years old so no warranty chances here! I went to the MB Dealer and he assured me that the bolts they supply now don't go rusty now. Good. But then he brought the bolts out with an invoice for £50 - they were almost as scruffy as the old ones! Not rusty, sure, but scruffy none the less.

So, I didn't take those! Does anyone have a recommendation for some wheel bolts that will look good in AMG alloys, but are properly robust?

The chrome ones on ebay make me a bit nervous as there is nothing to say what standards they conform to...

Anyone got a link or some pictures of these? Sounds good, I have chrime spinners on my dust caps and these set the wheels off well.

I also have rusty wheel nuts but more on the front than the rear.
