Hi,

My 2017 S Class AMG Line has an issue and I'm looking for some help to address it.

The interior trim on the inside of the drivers B pillar has worn away due to my backside rubbing against it when getting in and out of the car over the last 6 years.

I can get the panel retrimmed once I have the trim panel out of the car, however I need to understand how to get the interior trim off the B pillar without causing damage, activation of the airbag, getting the seatbelt and vent out of the way etc.

My plan is to remove the trim and then reassemble the car to allow me to use the car whilst the trim covering is being replaced. To get a good visual match, and I intend to replace the covering material on both B pillars and as such the interior trim on both sides will be removed for this.

Any help you can give me will be appreciated and if you need any further information on this, please let me know.

Thank you in anticipation of your help with this

Jim

Plastic trim tools and peel the rubber seal back. The trim should then pop out - there will be a number of clips and with the right tool (usually one it’s fork type end) you’ll get them out without damage

Have you enquired with MB for the trim part. May e cheaper than getting it retrimed.
Always worth looking at the online EPC to get a rough idea how things go together ans whats lurking under the trim to help with right tool selection.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

The replacement part is circa £180 for one side and to have both sides recovered, it's £40.

The key points about removing the trim successfully is to be able to get the seat belt off and also to avoid the airback being activated. In addition, I'd also like to avoid any system codes related to these events.

Mioba - what do you mean regarding the "online ECP"?

Mobia,

Thanks for this although it's not what I'm looking for.

I need either the WIS instructions or other guidane/instructions on how to get the panel removed and that requires the airbag and seatbelt removal etc first.

It's the air bag which is the more important of these two specific points and I need to know how to ensure it won't be activated, how it comes out and then how it can be re-fitted etc.

If someone can help with this, it should be fine.

Getting the trim recovered is easy, once I have it removed safely from the car.

The job is now sorted!

I found out that when removing the B pillar trim, the airbag is unaffected and no special measures are needed.

The trim material was replaces and refitted and all looks good - before and after photos attached.

Thank for your help.
