Hi guys

I have a 2003 S350L and I'm trying to find the fuse boxes!

I've found the two under the bonnet, I've found the one under the rear seat, but I cannot find the two which are in the front driver and passenger areas, as shown on the fuse diagram from the boot.

I need fuse 79 as the instrument cluster is not lighting up anymore, and that fuse is in the drivers side. But where????

Someone must know!!

Thank you!

Lion Heart :)

another one

Found another one. On the outer most edge of the dashboard, on the side is a panel that pops off. Passenger side has fuses there, drivers side does not. And still no fuse 79, which is shown on the diagram as being in the drivers sidefront.

Help!

Fuses

Hi there

The dash does not have the round 'sticks' to reset etc. It has a square reset button to the side and the rest in controlled by the steering wheel controls.

I'll check the fuse 84. Which box is that in? That said, I've actually checked EVERY fuse in the boxes I found (both under bonnet, front passenger side and rear seats drivers side) and all are fine.

The diagram of the fuses (in the boot) clearly shows that there are fuses somewhere in the drivers side front. It's like a line diagram of the car from above, with black boxes to show where the fuse boxes are.

It's the only fuse box I can't find. And of course the one with fuse 79 in it.

Help please!!!

You prise off the end cover from the dash, with the door open just ease off the triangle end cover from the front and the fuses are in there drivers side

Fuses

Hi there

That's what I thought - but there's none in there!

On the passenger side you can pop the end of the dashboard off (the triangular piece of facia plastic) and there is a row of fuses in there.

But on the drivers side there are no fuses there.

What do you think??

Always hard with LHD and RHD they are the only fuse in the front and both mentioned fuses are in there, the Numbers start from the top

doh

Hi again

Actually you are right! Although the diagram shows fuse boxes in the front driver and passenger side they mean there's only one (but they don't say this!)

The fuses shown next to them in this diagram are the same numbers, so they are saying it can be on EITHER side (not both), but without actually saying that and confusing the hell out of me.

So that's not so good. My dash is now not illuminated and all of the fuses look to be ok.

Weirdly enough, the interior lights to do light up when I open the door, but can be forced on manually. Maybe that's linked to the same eletrics as the dash? Or more likely that it does not light up during daylight when you get in, only when it's dark.

Arghh! Help!

Lion Heart

Just took mine off now and photographed it for you. It is the passenger side and it is best just to take the door seal off a little to ease getting the cover back on. Fuse 79 clearly visable!

interior lights wont come on (automatically) in daylight.

As all fuses appear ok have you investigated if the dash illumination hasn't been turned down very low? As Malcolm suggested in post #4

Thank you!

Hi Barry

Thanks for that! Very much appreciated!!!

Yes, you are correct it is on the passenger side. Mercedes confuse matters by showing one on BOTH sides, but they mean there is ONE which can be on EITHER side (but they don't make this at all clear!)

It seems the LED has gone in my dash. Being sent away for repair. £175+VAT for the repair plus £8 carriage each way, plus the work at the garage for taking it out and putting it back in. £350 all in approx :(
